I would just like to take this opportunity to express my continuing disbelief for how stunningly bad Valerian was. I mean I had heard the acting was terrible, but I wasn’t prepared at all for how bad it was. Zero chemistry between characters, terrible writing, weak story. The visual design was actually pretty cool, but there is no way it could salvage the rest of the movie.

It had Star Wars level budgets and then asked some random 12 year olds to create a plot or story. It was so bad it was cringeworthy. I watched it on the plane to Ireland. I deleted it as soon as I could.

I was actually looking forward to it because it had the same director as fifth element and was all sci-fi-y. How did they get it so wrong? I wonder if the book its based on was shit.

And it does have that same (or at least similar) colorful, chaotic, sci- fi feel that T he 5th Element had, it’s just that they botched literally everything else.
